This training equips K–12 school personnel with the knowledge and tools to create safer school environments for all students. Participants will explore their duty of care, legal responsibilities under New York State law, and the importance of professional boundaries. Through practical strategies, real-world scenarios, and clear guidance on issues such as supervision, elopement prevention, and hands-off protocols, educators will learn how to protect both students and themselves. By balancing regulatory compliance with everyday classroom practices, this course ensures educators are prepared to respond confidently and responsibly in a variety of situations. This is an online seminar. Participants have thirty (30) days from the day access is granted to complete and upload all the assignments. An experienced instructor will provide feedback and coaching. At the end of the ninety days, participants who successfully complete the requirements will receive a grade of Pass and a certificate of completion. If not, a grade of Fail will be entered. Date: August 15, 2026 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Location: Zoom Audience: Statewide The Dignity Act maintains that it is the policy of the State of New York to afford all students in public schools an environment free of discrimination and harassment (Education Law 10). This interactive and discussion-based program examines harassment, discrimination and bullying as it relates to, but is not limited to, those acts based on a person's actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, gender or sex. Participants will engage in authentic conversations and reflections about harassment, discrimination and bullying as well as explore the impact of social constructs in their personal and professional lives.  This training fulfills the state requirements for six clock hours of coursework or training in the Dignity Act in accordance with Article 2 Sections 10-18 of the Education Law. The Dignity Act training does not count towards CTLE hours. Read more
